Obama Selects Amanda Simpson - First Transgender Presidential Apointee

The Obama Administration has appointed "Amanda Simpson" as a Senior Technical Advisor to the Department of Commerce.

Amanda Simpson may be the first transgender Presidential appointee but she's hoping that she won't be the last. On the NCTE (National Centre for Transgender Equality) website Amanda Simpson said:

"I'm truly honored to have received this appointment and am eager and excited about this opportunity that is before me. And at the same time, as one of the first transgender presidential appointees to the federal government, I hope that I will soon be one hundreds, and that this appointment opens future opportunities for many others."

Amanda Simpson has a degree in physics and engineering and is a certified test pilot and flight instructor with 20 years experience. Simpson has thirty years of aerospace and defense industry experience. Amanda Simpson will be working as a Senior Technical Adviser in the Bureau of Industry and Security.
