The recent salmonella outbreak that has caused 430 people across the United States to become ill has been linked to
contaminated peanut butter. Due to the current outbreak Kellogs has decided to put a hold on all products containing peanut butter as a precaution.
Although no one has reported becoming sick after eating any Kellogs peanut butter products it's best to avoid the products in question especially since many of them are children's favorites.
The products in question are Austin and Keebler brand Toasted Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers, Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich Crackers, , and Peanut Butter-Chocolate Sandwich Crackers, and Cheese and Peanut Butter Sandwich Crackers.
There is no need to panic if you or your children have eaten one of these brands of crackers and are showing no signs of illness, remember there has been no reported illnesses at this time. You can find further details on the cracker recall on the
Kellogs website and more information about the recent Salmonella Outbreak that began near the end of 2008 and continued on into 2009 on the
Centers For Disease Control and Prevention site.
There has been no Canadian recall as far as I know and
only one case of Salmonella has been reported in New Brunswick, Canada. The affected person had been travelling to the U.S. If you live in Canada you can check for food recall information on The Food Inspection Agency website in their
news release section. Since many U.S. food recalls lead to Canadian food recalls it's a good idea to keep updated with the latest recall news.
