Actress and business owner Merideth Baxter decided to go public with her sexuality on the Tuesday, December 2, 2009 Today Show.
After three failed marriages the actress who played the mother of Alex Keaton (played by Michael J. Fox) decided to have a relationship with a woman. Merideth Baxter is currently in a relationship with Nancy Locke and is the mother of five children.
Some people wonder what the big deal is, why would someone have to go on a television show to reveal their sexuality to the world.
I believe that the reason is that majority of lesbian and gay people spend years hiding their sexuality from family, friends, and the world so they won't be judged.
By openly revealing their sexual preferences they free themselves in a sense, and by revealing themselves publicly gay celebrities also free themselves from the threat of tabloid paparrazi revealing their lifestyle first.
How would you feel if you were hiding something and had paparazzi lurking around? If you still don't think it's a big deal than that means the world is evolving. Remember when "Ellen DeGeneres" came out? Her TV Show was cancelled shortly afterwards due to declined ratings.
