20-year-old Mariana Bridi Costa was a Brazilian Beauty Queen who spent time modeling and competing in pageants. Last year she took 6th place in the Miss Bikini International Competition and 1st place in "Best In Swimsuit."She was also a Miss World finalist.The aspiring model was on the rise and had a very promising future ahead of her when she suddenly fell ill. At first she was diagnosed with having a urinary infection but doctors soon realized it was something more when the infection evolved into Septicemia which is more commonly refereed to as Sepsis.
Septicemia causes a premature death to natural tissue which is called Necrosis. Surgeons amputated Mariana Bridi Costa's hands and feet, and removed her two kidneys and part of her stomach in an effort to save her life. She died of the rare infection on January 24, 2009.
Mariana was engaged to be married to Thiago Simoes. Her friend Renato Lindgren runs a blog dedicated to the Brazilian model. So far I've been unable to locate this blog but if I do I will update this article adding the blog link.
