Out Of Control Wal-Mart Stampede, Sears Site Overload - The Unlucky 2008 Black Friday

UNLUCKY BLACK FRIDAY 2008

This is turning out to be one weird and wacky black Friday for two major retailers, here's the scoop:

Sears.com wasn't expecting such a high volume of Internet shopper's to show up on their website today and their site crashed due to the overload. Even though it's Black Friday, one of the biggest shopping days of the year in the United States Sears was not prepared to sell a whole lot of merchandise. So where did all of those potential Sears customers go? Well according to the United States Google Search trends they headed on over to the Wal-Mart and Best Buy websites to see what deals were there.

The Wal-Mart site didn't overload today but the actual store may have. It has been reported that one Wal-Mart employee was killed while working today, trampled by overly enthusiastic Black Friday shoppers.

The 34-year-old employee was in charge of crowd control at 5 a.m. this morning. Before the Wal-Mart doors were even opened over 200 shopper's crashed down the metal door, knocking down and then trampling the store employee. I hope the employee's family sues big time for a death that could have been easily prevented by creating a line up or even having law enforcement to control crowds is necessary.

A pregnant 28-year-old woman was also injured in the same Wal-Mart a while later in another stamped like rush and miscarried. She was taken to the hospital for observation.

With all of the financial problems that the entire world is facing right now when will people change their attitude about shopping. Once upon a time shopping was a necessity (in many countries it still is) but here it is more like a hobby, and an out of control hobby at that.
