
It looks like there's no hugging allowed at Prattville Junior High where a student was given a detention as punishment for hugging a friend who has recently lost one of his parents.
The girl says that the hug was meant to be consoling and not sexual. She's not the only student in trouble for her public display of affection, a Texas student apparently crossed the line as well by holding hands with a friend.
In the Autauga County School System's code of conduct, embracing and kissing are not allowed.
I just find this all to be a little bit over the top. After all, I hugged my way through high school and it didn't seem to have any kind of adverse lasting effect. Why take aways the joy or consolation of a simple hug.
Hopefully they won't outlaw looks of sympathy any time soon, I'd hate to see students who were encouraged to behave as robots.
