The Sad Story Of Baby Riley

After police found the body of a toddler washed up in a container on a Texas shore, they were determined to find the identity of the little girl.

They made a drawing based on her remains and named her baby Grace. Investigators then released the sketch to the press, hoping that someone would recognize the young girl and her identity and what had happened to her would be found out.

It was the girl's Grandmother who recognized the photo and called police, worried about her granddaughter Riley Ann Sawyers. Investigators believe that the toddler found is indeed Riley but are awaiting the confirmation of DNA testing to be sure.

In a recent Cnn.com interview Riley's Grandmother tells how she and her son Robert lost contact with Riley Ann's mother Kimberly Trenor and Riley for months before they found out they were living in Texas.

Kimberly had Riley when she was only sixteen years old and she, Robert, and Riley lived with Robert's mother for two years. After the young couple broke up, Kimberly now 19 moved out and soon became involved with a man she met online. The 24 year old man, Royce Clyde Zeigler II, would end up beating her child to death.

Kimberly moved to Texas to be with Royce, who repeatedly beat little Riley. After Riley died the couple tried to cover up her murder by hiding the body and then later dumping it out into the water. They are now both in jail awaiting trial.

If you watch the video interview with Riley's grandmother you will notice a few odd moments where she defends her sons previous charges by police, and also asks for money for their family in the name of Riley.
