Note: This is my own perception of my personal experience with the Amway business. If I've had a bad personal experience than that's what I had, I'm not attacking Amway or those in Amway, I'm telling my personal story ***If you are in Amway - Before you freak out please see the links I've posted below in Amway's Defense.
I was in Amway 12 years ago. It was more like a nightmare than a business for me. I got the inside look at the weekly meetings and the grandiose Amway functions. I used all of their overpriced products while my then husband was encouraged to show the Amway plan. (Draw circles on boards trying to convince others to join Amway so they can become super rich).
From the moment I saw the first Amway convention I felt like something was wrong. There was a whole lot of hype, lots of people crying, and crowds of people admiring the millionaires on stage, hanging on their every word, taking notes, following whatever they said. It actually scared me, but not my husband, he loved it.
My husband spent thousands upon thousands of dollars on Amway tools, cassette tapes, videos, books, and meetings. I "the dutiful wife" was told to listen to the Amway tapes over and over again and to follow the advice of the "Amway Diamonds." (Who are he people who got rich through Amway). Only problem is the tapes kept telling me to leave my kids to go show the plan and to keep my eye on the prize. Since my kids are my biggest prize I wasn't willing to leave them to go convert people to Amway.
So my then husband (who is not a salesman) spent many nights out hunting for people to show the Amway plan to. He annoyed many people, but didn't sell the business idea to anyone.
Amway has an interesting and unique system where they basically encourage you to brainwash yourself with the Amway tools. Granted, they are not brainwashing you, you are choosing to do it to yourself. Those who miss meetings, don't listen to the tapes, or don't use only Amway products are looked at as losers and told to try harder. Those who sponsor (get people to sign up), buy all of the tapes, books, etc, are the heroes.
The good side of Amway would be that the people are encouraged to have big dreams, set goals, and to stay positive. They teach great sales techniques, leadership skills, and the power of positive thinking, hard work and determination.
Learning to be a positive go getter doesn't hurt anyone, but spending all your money might. My husband I divorced, being very young and dealing with the added strain was too much.
I have since remarried. The people who are in Amway say it strengthens families, and that you cannot possibly lose money, and when people come out and say that yes, I lost my marriage or yes, I lost money, they tend to attack. I have heard that they do not like it when anyone says anything bad about Amway, but people have a right to their opinions.
I believe that anything in the extreme has the potential to be destructive, but Amway encourages you to go to the extreme, and for some families destruction is exactly what it causes.

Very interesting. I was an Amway distributor in the UK between 1995 and 1999. I also spent a lot of money and wasted a lot of time under the illusion that the wealth of the Diamonds came from Amway bonuses. It doesn't - it comes from the secret tool business. See www.merchantsofdeception.com for the full story. You may like to know that Amway and several of the motivational organisations are under investigation by the Department of Trade and Industry in the UK. Since the beginning of May 2007 no one has been allowed to recruit or do any 'training'. Only product sales are permitted.
Oh wow, I had no idea that they were under investigation, that's really interesting.
I also had a couple that was higher up in Amway tell me about the secret tool business and later they felt scammed and quit.
Thank you for your comment, I appreciate it.
Have you read the book Through Rose-Coloured Glasses by Ex UK Emerald, Ruth Salway. Is it just fantasy or is there a lot more to it?
Hi,
No, I haven't read the book, but I do believe I've heard of it before. Thank you for your comment!
Recently a friend of mine joined Amway and it breaks my heart because I know it’s nothing more than a scam. My partner and I were in Amway 3 years ago and reading your personal experience brings back a lot of our memories with Amway. Our dear friend has only been to one seminar and she is completely possessed with far fetched promises. She gets very offended even if we slightly suggested there might be some flaws in the business as we experienced first hand ourselves. I think I was her 3 years ago, brainwashing is truly amazing.
Hi Anonymous,
It is sad. And if you try to say anything reasonable, like perhaps you shouldn't put too much of your money into Amway, you then become the enemy out to steal their dreams. I know the routine. When I was in Amway they kept telling me what my dream was. But they were wrong. I'd be happy sitting in a log cabin writing, not in a mansion surrounded by Amway. Not everyone has the same dreams.
EX IBS EMERALDS ARE PREPARING A CLASS ACTION AGAINST IBS AND AMWAY.
A decision was made on Monday 17th December 2007 to go ahead with a Class Action against IBS and Amway (UK) Ltd. Former Emeralds, John and Nancy Lear and Neil and Ruth Salway have in recent months been contacted by hundreds of distributors, including many leading ex IBS Emeralds and Directs.
Last year Ruth Salway launched her debut novel ‘Through Rose-Coloured Glasses’.
The book was written over a five year period and helped Ruth to come to terms with the harrowing experiences she and her husband Neil had to endure while under the influence of IBS. The book was written to warn teenagers of the dangers of these parasitic schemes. The story evoked a lot of raw emotion for many distributors who were part of the same regime and prompted them to get in touch. The majority have been emotionally scarred and the financial loss is immense; something needed to be done to support these people and to rectify the damage.
Leading London lawyer, Clare Kirby who specialises in the evolving field of law known as ‘undue influence’, ( which falls outside of the 6 year statutory limitation claim period,) has been instructed to act on behalf of the distributors on a ‘no win no fee basis’. A case is being prepared and anyone who feels they have been affected by their involvement with Amway/IBS and would like to reclaim what was lost on the use of the IBS ‘system’ and time given free for the privilege to work at IBS functions is advised to get in touch with either John and Nancy Lear, Neil and Ruth Salway or Kirby & Co. Solicitors.

Ten years ago I was sponsored to attend an 'Amway' function in London by a very dear friend. It left me cold as it was clear that very few, if any, in the audience were making any money and anyway it was a dreary event on a Sunday. There was considerable hype and a rather indifferent speech by Jerry Scriven who I now know to be one of the owners of IBS. Returning home it slowly dawned on me that my sponsor had had to pay for my ticket and that was where the wealth was really being made. I felt bad as I knew I would not pursue things as a result of what I had seen. My friend has pursued this over the years, successively over-committed herself and is now involved heavily with Jerry Scriven. At no point was it ever indicated that the tapes and events were key to the large sums that were said to be made, which, by any standards, is deception - let alone undue influence. I am now worried about her given the contents of this blog as she has certainly come under some severe undue influence - which is heartbreakng to watch. I can only hope that she can come out of this, if not unscathed, but at least wiser. What else would a friend be for - something probably not taught by IBS?
I'm 21 years old and am making a lot of money from Amway, especially from the jewellery and artistry products.
If it didn't work for you I apologise but in its defence, I earn more money a week in jewellery parties than any other job and get bonus's on the side signing up other girls who like to do it.
I've made lots of friends, conquered a lot of my dreams and nothing anyone says can stop me from getting up there.
It's only been a year for me and I've already signed 12 people. I'm only 21 years old.
In 9 years time I can have up to 100 people. It is a long term retirement plan for me. I can retire at the age of 30 easily from this.
Mel
I really admire anyone that has dreams and vision but particularly young people and in particularly those that are willing to get out there and make it happen. However in this case a word of caution.
You do not mention that you are buying books, tapes and function tickets. If you are not then keep it that way because you do not need a constant supply of them to stay positive.
I also hope that you have not been given absurd claims as to what this business can give you because they are from experience usually exaggerated. Without spending needless money (and time) on books, tapes and functions it is possible to supplement your main income. How much this equates to depends on your efforts and the calibre of persons you introduce to the business. It is not however an opportunity where you will end up with a yacht, mansion and fast cars. Hopefully you have not been promised such things.
Why have I bothered writing. Quite simply because I do not like young people's minds being played with or down right manipulated. I will not go into my experienec of Amway because I had the sense to walk away from it in the early nineties before I thought too much damage was done. Little did I realise how much it affected my former wife. She was convinced it was the only way to realise our dreams and when I walked away it probably was the end of our marriage.
Before it ended we had three great kids but I had already worked out the scam of the books, tapes and functions long before it really became an issue - or long before the power of the internet. I was of course called a quitter and a loser etc
I went on over the past 11 years to build by own conventional business which I sold last year for a nice profit and now I just lecture on business start ups for a few hours a week. I am also remarried and very happy with my lot.
How different to the thousands who wasted years of their life pursuing an illusion. Fortunately last year this was finally exposed and IBS and the other organisations who latched themselves on to Amway have finally been unlatched. It could be argued that Amway if they had so wished could have done this many years ago.
Anyway I do not want to go into yet another Amway story. All I would wish to do is advice you to read Ruth Salways book Through Rose Coloured Glasses. Also read about Neil and Ruth Salways experience of Amway and hopefully you will gain a better perspective.
I remember the Salways when I was involved and back then they were building a big Amway business along with the likes of Lyndon and Jeanette Farringdon, the Kents, the Pugsons, the Lears, the McCanns, the de Souzas and probably about a dozen more. The Salways were Emerald with 3 Emeralds and 20 Directs below yet they and the others mentioned walked away from Amway.
The reason they did this is because they found out that to get the big money they had to be in the inner circle of IBS. The ones who were making the money from the books, the tapes and functions. I myself contributed for a while and I have the Michael Aspel videos to prove it!
So Mel, I am sure with the attitude that you have got that you will achieve many good things with your life. Just be careful of the intentions of those around you - they might have different goals than yourself. For those involved in Success University, E-Lottery and uVme - beware - IBS is now called The Team and they have moved in on these opportunities to exploit those involved with their books, tapes and function tickets.
The likes of Jerry and Mandy Scriven, Dave Butler, the Galloways and formerly Pat and Greta Gregory and my old upline Mike and Di Beasley to name but a few are truely the Masters of Deception - and deserve no sympathy whatsoever.
George or whoever you are, The IBS system has done me nothing but good. Our Amway income has always way outstriped our IBS investment. Probably because I "acted" on the advice and mentorship which many of you never did and so are looking to blame others to save your lack of face. Shame on you. Pat and Greta Gregory are our friends and have only ever had a possitive influence on our lives and of the people we have introduced to them.
Anonymous
Thankyou for your reply but please read what I wrote in full not the last paragraph which mentioned the Masters of Deception - which includes Pat and Greta Gregory.
I actually did not disuade anyone from getting involved in the Amway business but to warn them that the big money which fuel the dreams is in the tape, books and functions business not the Amway business. Yes you can cover costs, perhaps create a reasonable second income but if it is mansions, yachts and fast cars that fuel your dreams then you need to be in the inner circle. I do not recall that ever being mentioned when I was involved but perhaps things changed.
As I said, do not take my word for it - I am a quitter and a loser - though for the last 7 years I have earned a six figure sum year on year from my own efforts. In some ways this is thanks to my time with the Amway business as I realised that working for myself was the only way forward and some of the books I read helped. My point is that if you have big dreams the Amway business will not deliver them.
Recent data from Amway shows that only two couples achieved an income above £78,000 a year which puts you in the top 2% earners in the UK. The top was the Lowes with £106,000 in one year who are Diamond and have been in the Amway business since 1981 and the others were Diamonds Jerry and Mandy Scriven.
Alot of people would love these incomes but they would not sustain the lifestyle that IBS portrays to people joining the business. It is this point that I was attempting to get across not to attack anyone involved apart from those who have blatently mislead people to line their own pockets, from the proceeds of you guessed it - the books, the tapes and the functions.
Who ever you are who replied to my intial rant then I wish you well with the business. Lots of people have taken on board the teachings of IBS, myself included and used it to good effect but like I said originally take on board the words of the people who actually went out and built massive Amway Businesses like the Salways and see what they found out. Perhaps like them you will see why the Gregory's, the Scrivens, the Galloways and the other inner circle are now widely known as the Masters of Deception.
Hello, my name is Ryan. I'm 18 and I recently joined Amway (2 Months), thus far I havn't found the going to tough but then again I havn't seen any large rewards. I personally focus on selling jewellery at the moment which nets me around $200-$300 a month plus an $80 bonus which obviously isn't enough to retire on. I as most IBO's are, am 'gunning' to become a diamond along with the 100k a year income and the time period I have been quoted is 2 - 5 years which seems even to me to be slightly
exaggerated.
The reason for this email isn't to attack you or even to promote Amway itself, instead I just want people to know that there are still people getting involved with the business and that we're not all 'brainwashed'. I don't really understand why people go to the trouble of creating websites and blogs in order to turn people away from Amway, I personally think people should be aloud to make up there own mind and generally Amway IBO's are nice friendly people but as in all businesses there are some rougs and for that I feel bad that you had a bad experience.
I just want to leave people with the thought that even Dexter Yager himself had to start at the bottom and work his way up, as anyone can. That isn't to say that everyone will, obviously not everyone succeeds otherwise the entire world would be involved. I believe that if people get a chance to have a look at the plan, they should go in with an open mind and atleast see if it's for them. Afterall no one is forced to enter or stay with Amway.
Thank you and I hope this helps people to see a slightly different view of Amway.
If you want to contact me my email is ryanh@impulse.net.au
Hi Ryan,
The reason that people create entire websites about Amway is because they've lost money, relationships, etc., and they are very upset. They feel better by trying to warn others.
If you're happy in Amway that's great, and I'm sure your learning some fantastic sales skills. You are young and have more options then someone who is older with a family. Basically you have less to lose by devoting your time to the Amway business.
I wish you all the success in the world, and thank you for your comment:)
Ryan
If only I was 18 too - and know what I know now!
Firstly I am not writing to tell you not to do the Amway business. (If you are like me when I was 18 it would be futile.) You are as an 18 year old in the right place right now - but the wrong business long term.
You will learn many positive things about yourself, many positive things about free trade, many positive techniques that will help you in your future life - but if you spend time on trying to build the Amway business to anyway near the level that is required to earn a decent living - you will waste a great chunk of your life - and cash - and later on relationships.
My advice for what it is worth is to learn all you can about sales and business from the teachings within Amway - then put them to use in the `real' world. You will be surprised what you can achieve - and how much more enjoyable than the insular world of Amway.
Yes there are some nice people in Amway. It is strange however that when you leave you never hear from them again - and overnight you turn from being a winner to a loser.
If you ever get the opportunity - ask Dexter Yager to break down his income for you. Ask him what proportion he has made from Amway - and what proportion he has made from books, tapes and function tickets etc.
I have never wrote or replied to a blog, a letters page, a phone in programme - nothing in my entire life until I saw this page. This is now my third entry and the reason for that is because I passionately do not like young people being used, manipulated and screwed up by people who portray themselves as friends. They are what they are - The Masters of Deception.
PS Thanks Christy for putting forward such a measured reply. I hope the young people in Amway take time to investigate the business more deeply - before they too feel the pain of so many predecessors - because as you know, unfortunately they will sooner or later discover - The Masters of Deception.
Hi George,
I can completely relate to what you are saying and understand how you feel. I think it's hard to explain it though to people who are caught up in the excitement of the business.
God knows I spent years trying to convince my now ex-husband of these things and his constant reply was that we were meant to be Diamonds.
Very frustrating indeed, and I'm sure you know what I mean. :)
The Training System which was required by anyone wishing to build an Amway business bigger than about 20 people was not responsible for "huge" profits. I was close to the inner workings of IBS and know how much functions used to cost to run. At one function we had an electricity bill from the NIA in Birmingham for £10,000 for one weekend. And that didn't include the electrician sat in the canteen on Sunday rates and his mate who "might be needed" as a safety number or the extra money paid to his Supervisor for being "down the pub" on his mobile phone.
However, with recent changes to the Amway business, I believe that it is no longer a business for people that want to generate a large ongoing income. I was a Ruby Direct and then a Ruby IBO and earned some good money from the business. However, I would not trust the Amway Corporation as far as I could throw them. If you want to know why, checkout what happened to my good friends Jerry and Mandy Scriven:
http://www.jerryandmandy.com
As for the e-Lottery, uVme and Success University businesses, that "The Team" are involved with, there is no training system required above and beyond that provided by Success University, which is one of the businesses on which you can make bonuses. (I only mention this because I don't understand some of the earlier comments about The Team bringing a system to these new businesses.
In fact, if you are interested in checking out these businesses, here are the links:
http://galloway.successuniversity.com
http://www.virtualworlddirect.com/vwdguest/default.asp?rq=0.5050775&m=164042rg&
http://www.uvme.biz/benefits/benefits.asp?m=343903AG
What you'll find is that it is much easier to build these businesses as part of a team i.e. The Team, than trying to figure out everything by yourself. That was always the idea behind IBS and providing training for the Amway business. Unfortunately, one ends up working with people who would love to have all the nice things in life as long a someone else could spend their time, energy and petrol money to bring it over to them! As for reading a book, listening to the proven advice of Millionaires (at £5 a throw) or dare I say putting that advice into action by switching off the TV and getting out of their front door, then you might as well forget it.
Conversely, these new businesses can be built online and even most of the training is provided by in-home broadcasts, either live or pre-recorded. It is all free. Even the mentors and tutors that spend a huge amount of their time and effort preparing all of this training material do not ask for any payment. The only reason the former training system could not be provided free of charge is that there were costs involved, room hire, travel costs, equipment hire, etc. Just trying to set the record straight.
The next Team Seminar is on Sunday 2nd March 2.00 – 6.30pm. It will feature presentations on uVme, e-lottery and Success University as well as testimonials, recognitions, and videos. The location is:-
The Centennial Centre
100 Icknield Port Road,
Edgbaston
Birmingham B16 0AA
Price £10.00 including VAT payable on the door.
Same old Same old....H E L L O!!!
No prizes for guessing who's pocketing the door money!
What an interesting find this blog was! I was in Mike and Di Beasley's 'downline' in the late 1980s in the UK... and not for very long! I was probably only 18 at the time, but could see clearly see that this wasn't how a MLM business should operate, and my role of showcasing laundry products and smiling at the right time really wasn't for me - I was far too chopsy and outspoken and I think they all breathed a sigh of relief when I walked away from the business and my then boyfriend (who subsequently saw sense and also walked away).
What I would say is that some of the books they 'made' you buy, were truly great books (Steven Covey for example).
Suzy Cross
Thankyou anonymous for finding and publishing the info on the forthcoming TEAM seminar. The new ball is finally rolling. Let's hope a whole new generation are not promised fame and fortune yet systematically ripped off by these ex- Amway Masters of Deception.
I give credit to Andy Galloway for attempting to put the record straight but the fact that they have now started holding these meetings and charging for entry perhaps says it all.
As for the £10,000 electricity bill - this was peanuts compared to the overall income. Even when I was involved a funtion ticket for the NIA in Birmingham was £30. I was one of 12,000 at just one of these events. There were others held also with thousands attending. Taking just the NIA example, after deducting £10,000, what happened to the other £350,000? There were no staffing costs because all the duped Directs worked for nothing. I do not know how much the arena hire was for a day or two but surely not that much. Where did the rest of the money go? I later saw functions advertised at over £100 each.
The TEAM are now involved in UVME, Success University and e-Lottery. I recently saw that one guy involved had paid £500 to attend an e-volution function.
The Masters of Deception must be rubbing their hands with glee as they now have a whole new generation of internet uses that they can now exploit.
Beware! You do not need this lot to help you be successful. Mr Galloway quite nicely sums it up by his attack on those that could not be bothered to get off their backsides to build the Amway business. It did not stop himself and others however coercing many in to beleiving that success was impossible without attending seminars and functions and buying books. Of course for themselves that was the only way they could ever make truely significant sums of money. In my book that is Deception - and the TEAM are very much The Masters of it.
My wife and i were in the IBS/Amway business in the 1990's. Although i personally hated the system. like so many other people i was desperate for money. We reached the 18% level but at what cost. My sister & brother in law were in our downline. Due to the fact that my upline did not like my attitude ( I had/have a sense of humour) they set them against us and tried to make their business a success and ours fail. The IBS system brings out the worst in people, if they get any success they turn into bullies and manipulate their down line. Jerry Scriven was always telling us about the sanctity of marriage - I note he is now divorced! Our upline directs, Nigel & Ellie Darville, were cruel and unrelenting. i shall never forgive them for the pain they caused our family. Don't touch Amway or IBS with a barge pole, it will only end in tears.
Richard.
Hi all, this is Kshitij Raval from India,
Over a period of few years three close friends of mine have approached me to become Amway member. Yesterday, it was really heartbreaking and disappointing to see our good neighbor – who are a very nice little family of a husband-wife, daughter and a son, with decent jobs, nice close knit family, approach me with Amway plan.
This “wealth-creation ideas, private island, private jets, etc.” never appealed me. You slog for 5 years than you are earning 1000s of Rupees a month without doing anything – how would you feel. You spend time on yourself, your family, your health, go on vacations, etc. Is this what you want – 365 days a year on vacation! I guess not. Life is made of those small-small things, not of islands and jets for yourself.
Of course, no harm in a desire to make it big, but I am sure this is not the best way. I soberly denied them that I was not interested. I opined rather than “gathering wealth” I would rather choose “gathering knowledge, I gave reference to the book Powershift by Alvin Toffler” … pat came the reply that “oh yes knowledge that you could apply” … I thought “Apply!!! apply what, where, for whom, what about the next generation … to earn so much money in 5 years that you don’t have to do anything for the rest of your life … I was simply disturbed by this reply” … I had to say, “frankly speaking I don’t consider this (Amway plans, products, etc.) as Knowledge.”. That is Information not Knowledge. 2+2=4 is Information, not Knowledge. But how can we use this information for the upliftment of Individual -> Society -> Country -> World is definitely Knowledge.
They also gave me a Video disc of one Diamond achiever. I watched the video with my entire family (my wife and my parents). All of us were so disturbed to see this Diamond family. My family became concerned - What now, what’ll happen to their children’s future, etc. Anyway, we are not in a position to do anything for them. There are hundreds of experiences in any society around the world that easy money has lead to psychological bankruptcy. Listening to what children of the Diamond couple had to say, I could see them slipping into psychological bankruptcy already.
It has been 24 hours since then and I am still feeling distrubed that I should have argued with my dear neighbors – not that I don’t want to join, but that you should leave Amway, and this mirage like dreams, right away. But then I am not in a position to influence them with my ideological shit so they were sure not to buy. I actually wanted to help them draft their dream! … funny isn’t it :)
Today I thought, let me surf the internet to find more truth on Amway. And then I bumped into this blog. It is really painful to see so many bad experiences with Amway and obviously I am going to share it my neighbors. I would like to thank Christy and all other bloggers to have put forward their experiences in such details. Thanks again.
With Best Regards
Kshitij Raval (India)
Never been with Amway :)
… and very very happy about it, and actually this site helped me reaffirm my wise decision that easy money dreams are bullshit. Absolutely nothing wrong in having a simple life. (I am so disturbed, I would like to keep writing … but let me stop for now).
Hi Kshitij,
Thank you for sharing your experience. You made a wise choice, and you're right, there's a lot more to life then money.
There is probably nothing you can say to your neighbors to change their mind but over time they'll learn more about the Amway Business and then they can decide whether or not it's truly something they want.
You could argue your point but they'll just accuse you of trying to steal their dream. The best thing to do is just tell them it's not right for you but you wish them the best of luck.
I don't blame you for being disturbed, thank goodness you could see the truth about the business so clearly.
:)

Hi Dave,
Thanks for your comment! You're lucky you got out before you spent all of your money on books and tapes.
I don't think you were gullable to follow the dream, but all the dreams we have can be accomplished without Amway.
I don't personally know whatever happened to Bill Britt but maybe someone here who knows will leave a comment about it.
:)
oh please help us here in Africa,South Africa, Botswana, namibia that animal called Amway has arrived here in our midst with so much greed. My dear Christy thanks for giving us outlet to cry out loud literally.I speak on behalf of men and women who have lost their fortunes in Amway promises. For one we cannot afford amway products, monthly books, tapes the one speaking here heronce dear husband has travelled to an expensive Amway function in Joburg leaving a sick wife, a sick son bed ridden. In less than 2 years we could have achieved in a large way Christy and also helped our relatives. When I first joined I underestimated the power of Amway until i saw how it has in no space of time changed my husband attitude, outlook in pursuit of the 100 000.Amway business is nearly ruining what i had before and that breaks me apart. What nerves me after joining Amway was that there are never risks mentioned, the amount of books let alone tapes that they continually read none bear a single African author and they are expensive.I asked my husband who only sleeps a wink, So what are you reading, and he says, "Skip Ross say yes to your potencial".and i say why would he still write if he owns Amway and he is Executive diamond.Pouring our money in this scheme puctuated with an ailing marriage has left me with limited options.People in Africa live in abject poverty please Amway, ur promises are unachievable
hey guys, i am a student. i think amway business is great!! :-)
real pyramid scheme is that you get some profit of people you get in. Since this is about selling goods, i cannot be.
I do this business and I have not lost even a dame for it. I do buy tapes and go to seminars, but I earn this money by selling things, so I did not spend any extra money.
Many people do not like selling, but there are also many people who do not have a job. They are telling themselves: I would do everything to get a job, to feed my children... but they would not even go out and sell things? What is bad about that???? There is NO BUSINESS IN THE ENTIRE WORLD which does not sell goods or services.
What is wrong with you guys??
Furthermore, I am making money in amway and I am not a super rich in this business, but it is totally enough for living! My passive income equals my active income in this business...
Hey, live strong and live with passion! cheeerios!
Here's the facts about the tool scam: http://texsquixtarblog.blogspot.com/2008/03/9-steps-of-truth.html
Hi,
I feel bad for what has happened to you because of this. I just have chosen to become a member of this Amway business, but I know my limits, I'm not going to go around hunting for people to explain this to them or anything as such. I joined it for one reason: I'm liking some of the products from Amway and I can get a discount of 20% on the MSRP and free home delivery if I'm a member. That's it. But it is easy to brainwash people and companies like Amway are making the most out of it!
hi christy, i am sorry that you had a negative experience. however, i recommend you to take your posting offline. the reason i say that is because some of the things you have listed are not correct about amway. i am in amway, and not making much money yet. however, i do not see anything wrong with amway. i have not been consistent in doing the work. good luck with what you are doing! thanks.
Hi, I am in Amway and have been to a function. They said that if I should a certain number of plans, I can have people signed up. It is interesting to know that you worked the Amway business for 12 years and did not make any money. Can you please tell me how many plans you showed? That would be very helpful. Thanks, Mike
Hi everyone,
Thanks for taking the time to share your comments and opinions. I'm sorry to hear the stories of people losing time and money with Amway, it's terrible.
I am posting all comments, including those from the "Anonymous Amway people" who are still caught up in the "hype" of becoming a winner in Amway.
If you're so proud of being in Amway why not post your name?
For the commenter who asked how many plans my ex-husband showed, it was a few a week. He alienated just about every friend he had, and annoyed his family and co-workers.
For the person who suggested that I take down my opinion, open your eyes. I'm not the only one here who has had a bad experience with Amway. How extremely rude of you to ask me to hide my experience, and to delete everyone's great comments.
For all of those commenters who wish me luck, thank you! I've been earning far more money with my new business than I ever could have ever dreamed of earning in Amway. :)
I wish everyone here the best of luck too!
Hello Christy hope your all well and good.
Thanks for this blogg its hard to get a lot of different opinions about Amway and I am gald to se there are a good variaty.
My problem is my future farther in law. He and his partner live way up north and me and his daughter live way down south (5 hours drive) and we have done for 9 months now and cannot for the love of me get him down to visit. So i wanted to know why. Of course Amway may be the problem, he spends every moment of his life on amway and has done for 15 years. After doing lots of reasearch into it, I have found that starting amway to get your skills sharpened is a good thing and lots of poeple have become successfull from using amway tatics for themslves. I just hate seeing the fact that a member of my family is wasting and continues to waste time and effort on this company when he should be focusing on himself and his family! But I have an impossiblke task of suggesting it, he has had 15 years of brainwashing! I hope he sees the light soon, he is so good at what he does but I wish he would do if for himself.
George who replied maybe you can talk to him!
Keep up the good work and lets hope people dont lose to much over Amway.
Harry
After my last posting sometime ago I decided enough was enough. I felt that I had made my point regarding the Masters of Deception and with the disbanding of IBS I thought that the people left in the Amway business would at last see that the business itself, cannot give the lifestyle that many are/were promised and would in turn put in the appropriate effort for the potential returns. Alas this for some reason does not seem to be happening.
Over Christmas I met some new friends and the conversation somehow got on to Amway (by them not me I hasten to add.) They told me about their involvement in Amway in the late nineties and their concern for their friends who introduced them and who are still involved today. The story they told me was unfortunately all too familiar. After not visiting this site or any other regarding Amway after my last posting (I have been too busy getting on with life!) I decided to take another look in light of what these new friends told me. I obviously then discovered your posting.
Because you mentioned me by name I felt compelled to reply.
Perhaps partly tongue in cheek you asked if I could talk to your future father in law. By that I take it that you would like your future father in law to see sense. Unfortunately I am the last person he would take advice from, as someone who dare leave the business is regarded by those in it as a loser, a quitter, a dream stealer and many other things I have thankfully forgotten. Sadly he is unlikely to listen to either you or your partner as you are probably seen as lacking ambition or have no dreams – or at least not the ones that the Amway business purports to deliver.
Should your future father in law quit Amway? Absolutely not if he is in it for the right reasons and he fully understands what the Amway business CAN deliver. It can enable you to meet new like minded people, you can learn about business and thinking positively, you can earn some extra money if you are sensible. You CANNOT and will not however earn enough to buy a yacht, a mansion or a Ferrari out of the Amway business alone. Anyone who has acquired these items and more did so from the books, the tapes, the functions etc. These are the Masters of Deception. If your future father in law understands this then Amway does not need to take over his life. The Amway system itself cannot deliver even an average wage for most. Even the 2 most successful distributors ever in the UK only just scraped over £100,000 earnings in one year - less expenses. Emeralds were earning about £30,000 a year – less expenses which could take it down to less than £10,000 a year. The vast majority earn nothing or make a loss.
For anyone in Amway who thinks they can fulfil all their dreams from it – look at the real evidence. I was involved when Lyndon Farrington, the best public speaker I have seen and a legend in Amway was building a massive business. So too were the Salways, Kents, Lears, De Souzas, Pugsons and a few others. Between them they filled the NEC four or five times over with their networks – yet all after many years involvement had to take the heart wrenching decision to quit. Heart wrenching because they found out that without being in the inner circle the Amway business itself offered very little. More importantly it did not offer the thousands of people they had helped get involved anything. Not only had they wasted years of their lives – they had also alienated the people around them who genuinely loved them.
My only advice Harry is to not give up on your future father in law and to be there for him if he does realise that devoting his life to Amway is not the answer to all his dreams. For those in Amway, I hope at some point you realise the limitations of Amway and put in a balanced amount of effort. Also remember that there are people on the outside who care about you and want a part of you in their lives. Life does however pass very quickly – so do not procrastinate (!) George
This business is not just a scam in India. There are people who literally forces you to join the business and than your hard earned money is lost. They'll give you flowery stories of earning millions without any idea, how. And worst of all, they literally force you to join the conferences and push you to the extreme till you say, "STOP IT".
I have to say I feel sad that posters on here have to lash out at individuals because they did not succeed in Amway. Financially I did not succeed either but I am not bitter. I know what I did and did not do and why that restricted my success.
However, I did gain a great deal from IBS and am sitting here with a large collection of books purchased from them (including others I have added - including Ruth Salways excellent book). They are largely responsible for what I consider to my success AFTER I left the business. Yes, I am still a member of The Team and am happy to be so - and, like Andy Galloway, am friends with Jerry still.
No, the Team do not distribute books and CDs. Any meetings are arranged with the multiple businesses with which they are involved. The Team is actually a very smart business proposition.
Am I a young, impressional, naive boy? Er, no. I am 50 years old and am self employed after 30 years in the corporate world and 20 years in the direct selling business. I have a reasonable set of professional qualifications. From this viewpoint I can tell you I would be very surprised if Jerry and Mandy and Pat and Greta (as these two couples jointly owned IBS) made much out of the tools at all. Have you seen the cost of hiring venues?
Amway dumped IBS through pure politics in 2007 after a DTI inquiry found IBS to be completely clean. Indeed, the DTI team declared themselves surprised that Amway had shut off IBS as they were impressed with the set up. Bear in mind too that UK guidelines restrict the money that can be made from recruiting and training materials.
There you have it. I cannot of course speak about the rest of the world situation but I would rather your arguments were more research based and less emotive. But I can only hope.
Richard
Young, impressionable naïve boy! Richard I admire your posting and loyalty – and perhaps 20-30 years of brainwashing (yes brainwashing!) but let as you suggest get to the facts.
I too am around the 50 mark. I first saw the Amway business in 1989 and quickly got to the 18% level – mainly because I introduced a couple of self employed retailers who loved selling. All they could see was the 30% mark up and went out and sold. (I also had another 30+ in my group who retailed next to nothing) Expensive as the Amway products were/are, at 30% mark up you have to sell an awful lot and on a regular basis to buy a yacht or Ferrari. That is my point. You cannot buy a yacht or a Ferrari from the Amway business no matter how you plug yourself into the system. Richard, no matter what you did or did not do – or were asked or told to do – you would never achieve the goals you think you never achieved because you did not do enough of the things you thought you had to do but never did – if that makes sense! The fact is that the Amway business CANNOT deliver the wild promises that is so often promised and inspires people to keep going in the business 24/7 when logic says that the business can only ever offer average returns – therefore only put in average effort! I have mentioned the Farringdons, Lears, Kents, Salways, Pugsons etc on a number of occasions. These couples put in super human effort, and by most Amway distributor standards achieved massive success – yet they are no longer involved.
Richard, you mentioned that you should analyse Amway by facts not emotion. Not to denounce Jerry and Mandy, Pat and Greta, Mike and Di Beasley, Dave Butler and the other members of the inner circle. I agree if the facts stack up. If they do not and you or the aforementioned can produce the facts, then I and others will not label these parasites as the Masters of Deception.
Produce some facts so those still in the business or are introduced into the business in the future can digest. Ask your friend Jerry Scriven – or for that matter Andy Galloway to make a posting on here stating the FACTS. Ask them what the Diamonds and Emeralds really earned from the Amway Business – not the books, tapes and functions etc. Ask them what the average distributor earned. Ask them what the true potential income is for someone who plugs into the system, works it hard and smart for the next 2-5 years and sponsors not 6 people but 3, 4 or 5 times that amount will be. Ask them how much the NEC cost for a weekend in the early 90s. Ask them if they ever deceived anyone. Ask them why the big Emeralds and Diamonds such as the Farringdons and De Souzas are no longer involved. Ask them why the Salways and Lears became so disillusioned.
Ask yourself why you and many others never went on to make a fortune from Amway. Was it lack of effort or as an intelligent person you realised that the Amway business could never deliver but because of all the brainwashing could not bring yourself to admit that the Amway business was not the magic answer to every ones dreams. George
The above rant should be aimed at Keith not Richard! Looks like I got carried away(or just getting old!) - everything else is 100% from the heart and factually correct unless anyone wishes to tell me otherwise. George.
Wow okay, a girl i knew came to me with this Amway's idea yesterday. I looked at the website and don't really like their profits and i don't like being a sales rep to my friends and from the brainwashing comments I don't think this is the way for me. The girl did give me some CDs to listen to but hmmmm thinking maybe I won't. Good to get both sides of view but I'm not a seller so don't see this workng ofr me. Thanks
With so many mentions on this blog, I thought I'd leave our details.

Hi, my name is Grace and I am from Australia and yes I am in the Amway business. I have read through all the comments and Im finding it hard to believe that so many people are blamming their problems on a company. No one is forced (in my country n era) to buy the cd's or go to seminars, or even bug your friends, this is why you own your own business; its your choice. But I do not want to sound rude or judgemental. Id just like for everyone to just stop. If it doesnt work out for you then so be it, I do not believe it is something that should cause people to get angry over. Im not sure if Im getting my view across properly, Im really not trying to offend or erge any more fighting. But thats all this is, an excuse to fight with others. I think it is childish, hate is not going to get anyone further in life. But to those who are looking for information about any kind of company please dont take advice from pages such as this. Being able to see both sides is all well and good but you should be making your own mind up from your own experiences. Other's words will only spread doubt that strips away your own thoughts. Good luck to all who have or have not been successful in life. If you would like to chat with me you can email at truefarmersheart@hotmail.com Hate mail and anything of such will be reported so please remember your manners.
Hi everyone, I'm sorry I have not time to keep up with everyone's comments. I've been busy running several websites and with my writing career.
Thank you George for continuing to return and give advice to visitors, I'll hope you'll continue to come back and share your point of view with everyone.:)
Grace, I live in Canada, in Canada and the U.S. they put pressure on people in Amway to "go show the plan." You spend a lot of money on tapes, books, and functions that tell you to "go show the plan."
If you sponsor people you're a winner, if you don't you're a loser. I don't hate anyone in Awmay, I don't hate anyone in the universe.
I saw my now ex-husband become brainwashed and spend all of our money on Amway instead of meeting our children's needs. The tapes had a hold over him and the types of changes I saw was like something you would see in someone following a cult.
I've been reasonable in letting everyone express their opinion including their love for Amway.
But it's disrespectful of you to disregard everyone's negative experiences, and then speak as if you have all of the answers.
I've heard many stories that are similar to my experience and of course there are many happy Diamonds out there promoting the business.
Perhaps Amway is different in Australia, or perhaps you aren't deep into Amway, or if you are you are one of those people who can not easily be brainwashed.
This web page is not excuse to fight with others. I do not enjoy negativity of any kind. It is a web page where people can share their point of view, no matter what it is.
I'm not angry at Amway, or those in Amway, I'm concerned for the people who join and get too deep into it.
Thank you to Neil for leaving the web address of your website, I have to read your book!
I think it is fun to see the very "Masters of Deception" working their ways in this very blog. Open your eyes, those of you reading all of these comments. When an entire business is based off of earning a large income, deceptions arise. Follow your passions. If earning money is your passion then so be it.
Hi Christy..
Just wondered.. If you dont mind me asking. How much do you earn on this blog???
Anonymous,
When you are ready to post your name and email address when you ask me a question, then I'll answer you. Otherwise I'll just assume you are being rude.
Dear Christy,
Tks for your writing. I am Dieu from Vietnam.
I just want to share it in my notes on my FB at: http://www.facebook.com/Keosua
Hope to receive your acceptance!
Best regards,
Keosua
Dear George, I note that in almost every post you ensure you get the tag line "Masters of Deception" in there somewhere. Its clear you have a book to promote and its a free country so good luck to you. However such naked self publicity is as bad as that which you claim to speak out against. Georgie boy you are truely a "Master of Self Promotion" Ching ching old chap.
I think I read some where that the book your accusing Dear George of promoting is in fact "Merchants of Deception". So I would suggest your post is slightly below the belt old chap.
Hi people,
I've decided to not publish anymore "anonymous" comments. It's ridiculous that people don't have the courage to leave their website address as they attack others. If you don't have a legitimate link to your website (or blogger account) with your comment, I will delete it.
Thanks to those who are taking the time to share their experiences.:)
Thank you for your review of the Amway business opportunity. We appreciate you sharing your opinion and doing the research needed to fairly evaluate this opportunity. Especially, how you identified your brainwashing yourself…sort of like that movie Inception. We have seen fit to link to this article in our independent Amway Reviews section. Anyhow, keep up the good work spreading truth.
You have to join in amway network. Or else you can use this ABO number and get 20% discount.

I keep telling myself not to look at this website because eventually someone will write something that will stir me into action, when at my age I should be watching my blood pressure levels!
Well two things are certain to get it rising (blood pressure I am talking about!) - one are those that deceive - the other are those that patronise. Do you know what I mean old chap! Thanks to Christy and anon for coming to my defence.
Masters of Deception is in deed my slight twist on the book Merchants of Deception of which I have absolutely no financial interest in what so ever. The only reason I keep putting my view point across is to warn prospective Amway distributors of what they may be getting into. The bits not explained at meetings, functions, on cds or videos.
'Old chappie'(!!) I operate firmly in the middle of the free market and I am one of its greatest advocates. As a qualfied business teacher I preach the virtues of the free market system. As someone with a number of business interests I am out there walking the walk (got that phrase from my Amway teachings which proves that not all of them were wasted!) This site is not for my self promotion however but a way for myself and others to warn, in particularly young people and those in a vunerable position in life, that Amway is not necessarily the answer to all their dreams. That there are people in Amway who are quite happy to exploit and deceive them for their own means, while purporting to be friends. Some are/were Masters at it.
Anyway I must finish old boy - blood pressure dropping now I have got that off my chest. Chow George
Hi George,
Thank you for returning! I feel your frustration. There are many nasty comments that I don't even publish, so be thankful that you don't have to read those, lol.
I love all of the anonymous commenters who accuse me of making money off of this web post. Are they kidding? If they knew anything about making money online, they would know there is no way a single blog post could earn much. I am simply trying to warn others, or at least tell people that they can have other dreams besides making it to Diamond. (Can you imagine?)
The people who are becoming so upset and offended by what we have to say are so sucked into Amway that they can't even understand another person's point of view. Some people just have to learn by going through it. To all of the haters, I say, go ahead and devote your life to Amway. Go Direct, Go Emerald, Go Diamond...just get off my blog.
u are all a bullshit who posted suck a wrong comment, i joined amway business not for marketing purpose but for use of great valued product... if i say about its seminar... it helps us to become leader not only in amway but all other sphere in life also... Here i gain how could behave with people, how to think, how to treat... its like a great motivator and metor.... i only can say for u all that.... before saying wrong about anything, investigate it... by trying to use its product... then say anything
Amit,
If you learned how to be a great leader then you wouldn't be calling everyone's opinion bullshit. I don't think anyone ever said the Amway products were bad (except for the toothpaste), just that they were overpriced. I'm not going to pay three times what something is worth so I can be a great Amway leader. The seminars are not all bad, but you can also go and see Anthony Robbins and other financial gurus too, it doesn't just have to be Amway. Have an awesome day!!! :)
We joined Amway in 1997. For 4 years, our "uplnes" Bala and Anitha Melukote made us spend money on products showing us dreams about being millionaires but it never happened. The last straw was when they made us spend $14,000 one month to make 7500 PV and never declared us directs to the Amway corporation to claim a Ruby bonus. Bill and Peggy Britt always mentioned on the stage that they do not tolerate people who cheat in the busness. How come these people are still there even though they cheated us and ther upline diamonds and executive diamonds are all aware of this. We have proof, recordings of all their confessions. Tissa Samaratunga nd Bala Melukote are people that can be leeches and suck money out of you.
I was in Amway - Neil & Ruth Salway were in my upline. Needless to say, I lost money (although I can't blame them personally - they were 3 or 4 levels up) and I left about 1998.
I can't help noticing that all the links to The Team etc in Andy Galloway's post on the 3rd February 2008 are all dead links. I do hope that everything's OK. /sarc
Maybe someone knows what's happened?
I have a question. Im joining amway not for the reason of thinking im gonna make phat cash. More so just to make a little extra income if I sell some products and for a tax write off at the end of the year. My question is, are there any hidden charges or crap im gonna have to pay on a regular basic?
Thank you.
Hi Dane,
The hidden costs are basically getting persuaded into paying for "tools" like motivational books and tapes. People also have to pay for the weekly Amway functions as well as the conventions. In my opinion it would be much easier to make extra money buying used items and selling them on EBay than to sell Amway.
This is Anil from Bangalore, India.
Thanks a lot to Christy for her comments and her experiences with Amway. Recently i am joined to Amway business as my dear close friend convinced me there is some good business opportunity and asked me to just attend the function. I did not want to disappoint my friend, so joined the business. But i joined not to become millionaire but to use the amway products and not to make my friend upset. But aftertime i realized that my other upline started coming to my home during weekdays and asking me to contact and explain them my other friends and people whom i know personally. As far as my friend is concerned i can tolerate him but not other upline members, I observe their intention is only to increase the numbers. I think, amway is trying to use the emotional quotient in spreading his network. I am sure 90% people join this business as they are introduced either by friend or relative.
alright, this is going to be a long shot. but GEORGE!!!!
Ive been thinking about using amway while im in college next year to make a few hundred on the side of what I make at my actual job at in-n-out. after reading this post I dont know what to do. I partly want to do it because I would teach me skills, but I am not sure if it would work out too well. reading that you teach people in the business world, you could point me in the right direction. just send me an E-mail at chadrazoo@gmail.com and let me know what you think and ill tell you more about me if you need it. I should be in a good positing being that I am 16 haha.
Ill give this a few months, If i dont hear back before augest ill just tell myself youre done checking this page.
If you live in Dallas, and frequent a walmart after 9pm, BEWARE! My husband and I have been stalked many times inside walmart by amway folks who are of Indian descent. The most hurtful experience for me was when this guy approached us in the freezer section, and asked my husband if he could ask my advice on what ice cream to get for his wife, because she was mad at him. I politely gave my suggestion, and he started the sale pitch with my hubby indirectly by saying he has a business idea, and would love it if my hubby joined him since they are both from India, and they can make money quickly. My hubby gave him a wrong phone number and we quickly finished our grocery shopping. We saw this same guy in the check out line leaving that ice cream he had asked my opinion on. It's disgusting to how low of a level these people get to in order to try to con you in joining the business. We now only shop either super early in the morning or super late. The other folks on this forum are right when they say if you give your mere opinion of any of amway's products or the whole business idea, your friends will become your enemies overnight. My neighbor just started amway this past weekend and invited me for an "open house" where her recruiters had displays of skin care, vitamins, household products and samples to try. They tried their best to get me to place an order right then, and I was really scared to say no upfront, so I just asked for their brochure and told them I had to speak to my husband first and dodged the bullet for now. Having seen my dad fail in this business many years ago, and lose so much money, I do not want to be a part of Amway in any way.
Hi.. I have read at least 50 comments from this bolg. Can somebody answer my questions?
1. What’s wrong to show a hope to people make money?
2. What’s wrong to build your personality/ behavior/ +ve attitude/ thought process through excellent books and somebody who is successful in life?
3. What’s wrong to use best of the best products in wholesale rate?
4. If system is not good then how can company is growing 15% annually? How come this is 10 Billion dollar debt free organization? How come consistent A+ rating by BBB?
Tell me anybody had written that "Platinum IBO get $50000 bonus", for performers Amway always releases excellent bonus. Diamond IBO earns at least $150K annually.
People who are not satisfied or not suitable to them can upfront say No or quit.
Personally I am very very satisfied with whole system, concept and the profit that I am making.
My personal suggestion to those who are reading this blog "Take suggestion from whom who made positive change in your life, not from failures”. People who make decision just based on some criticized blogs are not matured enough. My opinion is to Go see.. take a chance.. give it a try... All the time all offers comes with 90 days money back guarantee. Then what to loose? But by reading this blog if you decide no then you are losing an opportunity.
Choice is yours…
Subbu,
Here we go again with the brainwashing. I have said it before and I'll say it again...just because someone isn't in Amway, showing the plan does not mean that they are a failure. Many people who are not in Amway have made positive changes in their lives. There are many more millionaires out in the "real world" then there are in Amway.
This is the last comment I will be posting on this blog post. You cannot convince someone who is brainwashed that there are any flaws with the Amway system...so for all of you die hard Amway people...
You can do it!!! Go Diamond....don't listen to us losers....buy more tapes...buy more books...pay to go to all of the Amway functions..buy every single Amway product...you rock!!! Show the plan every night to all of your friends so they can be winners too! You are the smartest, the best...and you are going to become the only millionaires in the entire world!!! Woo Hoo!!!!!
Anyone who lets themselves gets brainwashed deserves whatever they get.
Amway products ruin fabric! My grandma has been using this product since I was born and in my nearly 37 years she has not once used anything else. I had to stay with her recently and I noticed all her towels were hard, crusty and smelled awful.. And my grams is a clean freak, so after I had no choice but to use the towels after a shower I broke out in a light red rash! She actually washed my clothes and ruined 3 shirts because of the product from Amway. I tested it out by using regular old ALL detergent and not only did my clothes smell better they were soft and didn't cause a rash. I threw out 10 towels and wash rags from the closet, replaced with new ones. I dumped her Amway and replaced with the ALL and she had no clue. But remarked how nice her towels were etc. She uses it for septic tank which ironically doesn't help, and for dish washing and it leaves gross water stains. I for one do NOT like Amway and believe that my grams pays out way to much money for a Sh**ty product from a lady that won't stop bringing it to her. Anyway, not sure about the scam but I thinky grams that just buys the stuff us getting scammed into thinking the product is so great and it really isn't!!
Having recently been approached by someone I only vaguely know, with a view to joining Amway, I thought I'd have a bit of a look online, to make sure my own slightly sarcastic response was actually justified. I think it was ! I have had one Aunt, a couple of colleagues and a couple of close friends who have been duped into the Amway way - and they have all exhibited precisely the same hallmarks - namely that of having been brainwashed. LOGIC falls to the wayside to replaced by a fervour which is reminiscent of religious cults. Not to mention the condescending "I feel sorry for you as you have no ambition" attitude !
Actually I felt sorry for the friends who were involved, as it was clear they were delusional and headed for a big wake up call. I purchased cleaning products and found them all to be awful ! The washing up liquid was about as much use as a chocolate fireguard and cost about twice what a premium W.U.L would have cost in the supermarket.
Anyway, unsurprisingly, after a while they all went strangely quiet about the Amway thing and blushingly muttered things about having moved on to new opportunities.... I keep hoping one might arrive in their newly acquired lear jet but so far no joy...
BLOGS ARE PEOPLE'S OPINIONS, NOT FACTS. Just like good and bad opinions, understand that there are good and bad IBO's in the Amway business. The bad ones are the ones that deceive people, the good ones well of course you get the idea. This is a good business opportunity and remember it is only an opportunity, if you are not up for it then don't join. Simple and plain and shame to those who talk bad about the business and our products. If our products were bad we would not have pushed 10.5 billion dollars in volume in 2011. Sorry to those who lost money and had to quit this business. Remember it is a business, build it right. Businesses take long to solidify residual income. Apple did not see anything coming in for 5 years from when they first started. This business is simple, you get paid to shop and get paid to teach others how to shop. No one is brainwashed in this business. If anything this country brainwashes us to work for someone for the rest of our lives and pay off debts from accrued interest. In short we pay more than we borrow, sad isnt it. That should be something to think about for those of you who want to accuse amway of "brainwashing" people. All in all like the rest of the MLM business opportunities out there, Amway is an exceptional opportunity, study it well and see how the money works and build it right. The books and cd help build confidence and think from a different perspective. They open our minds to think outside the box. Also, Amway products are price competitive. Our prices compete evenly with walmart prices. If you think amway products are expensive then that means you cant shop at walmart. If you cant shop at walmart then you arent doing something right in life.

Quote from his website (About Lyndon:
I read a book called ‘The lazy mans way to riches’ where for the first time I read of the importance of committing ones goals to paper. Once I wrote down what I really wanted out of life I knew I had to be doing something else and within weeks I was starting my own Amway business.
I put over 10,000 people into Amway in 6 countries with over 5,000 of those distributors actively attending seminars each month.
I have spent years in business some years good some bad and I have had a natural positive attitude.
I was lucky enough to have been in the Amway business this was a really formative time full of contentious issues but also full of character building times.
I was a successful speaker regarding positive mental attitude (pma) as it related to my business, and this exposed me to a lot of different books and pma techniques.
I spoke at virtually every venue in the UK it’s a buzz speaking live at Wembley arena and the largest crowd I addressed was 12,500 at the National Indoor Arena Birmingham.

I do not know the answer to this question. Perhaps you should ask Lyndon himself. I said in an earlier rant that he was the best public speaker I have ever seen and I am still waiting to see someone better. I was at the Indoor Arena when he spoke and at Harrogate which was probably the last time he spoke. It was also my last Amway flirtation. But why is he still not in Amway?? Forget about me. Forget about all the other losers. All those who have sponsored a few dozen people, perhaps got to 18%. Ask yourself why Lyndon Farrington is not involved if the opportunity was/is that good. Where is Mike and Di Beasley - they sponsored Lyndon in. Pat and Rita Gregory, Janet and Bernie De Souza, Jerry and Mandy Kent, Nigel and Louise Pugson, Lee and Sandy Mcann, Renton and Karen Ball, John and Nancy Lear, John and Julie Lee, Ruth and Neil Salway. Oh I will also throw in Jerry and Mandy Scriven and Dave Butler - former Diamonds and Fred Harteis Double Diamond from the USA. All fantastically successful within Amway but now no longer involved. If they have found something better then you need to track them down and get in with them rather than waste your dreams on trying to get rich selling Amway products and getting others to do likewise.
By the way, life is treating me well. Please, keep thinking positively and remember that there are many avenues in life where you can fulfill your dreams. I do not think Amway is it - but get in touch with Lyndon. Perhaps he might tell you otherwise.
